To whom it may concern,

As an American who has never taught before, much less traveled abroad, it was vitally important for me to obtain an agent who could do more than simply direct me to a teaching position. David acted not only as an agent but as a friend, an interpreter, and a helpful contact in Taiwan. He arranged safe travel to and from my target schools and contacted me several times to make sure the school was accommodating me in every way possible. Beyond this he called me after he had helped me find the perfect teaching job (with good pay!) to make sure everything was running smoothly. He offered contacts for me to obtain cheap furniture if necessary and I am entirely certain that if I called him tomorrow he would assist me however he could. I would recommend his
services, which are entirely free for the teacher, to anyone searching for a job in Taiwan.

To whom it may concern,

David from Dewy Career services is an excellent contact to have for any foreign teacher in Taiwan. When I first moved to Taiwan almost a year ago David was the first person I contacted in regards to finding work here. He can help teachers all over the island, and provides a 100% free service to teachers. David has helped me find work twice, and the schools and I are a great match. I believe that David truly cares about the e teachers and schools he helps, and because he cares for their best interest everyone finds the job or employee that they need. He is always east to contact and is very friendly and helpful. David goes beyond his job to help people feel confident and satisfied. I really appreciate his help, and I know that he will continue to do an amazing job in the future.

This is a letter of reference for David

From the moment I began dealing with David from the John Dewey International Education agency, I was impressed by his enthusiasm and energy. David was immensely instrumental in getting me the position I wanted. He was very supportive even after I was hired and he continues to be helpful.
One of the reasons I decided to deal with the John Dewey consultants initially was that I was not charged any fees for simply being referred to a position. I was further impressed by the professionalism and cheerfulness of everyone I dealt with at the John Dewey Agency.

I contacted this company while I was still in South Africa. They supported me all the way. They organized job interviews for
me and all I had to do was to impress my future employers with my South African skills. The Teachers from South Africa are
well trained and are in demand in Taiwan, although the South African accent may be a small problem. I could not do without
the assistance from this company and I am very grateful for the service I got from them.

I have found David and Andrew to be both trustworthy and honest when dealing with foreigners here in Taiwan.
With the help of this agency I was able to secure a good job that was right for me at the given time and am pleased to say that I have had no real problems throughout the contract that is about to expire in one months time.
I find also with the backing and support of an agency especially here in Taiwan you are less likely to be taken for a ride by employers. Throughout the year I have been contacted occassionally by email to ask how I was getting on at the school, and that was very nice, and the school they found for me I must say the boss is a very good and a nice man.
So have been very satisfied, keep up the good work deway! Simply the best.

To Whom it may Concern.
I wished to teach English overseas, and went on the internet. I approached about 4 different companies in different nations for job
placements. David's company was the second one to respond, and easily the most helpful answering questions relating to the country I was going to, and the job I was seeking.

Since arriving in this country, David and his company have met me at the airport, assisted me to settle into my lodgings, and shown me the school. His follow up emailing after 2 weeks was also a good time for reflection and feedback.
I recommend this company to anyone looking for a position as an English teacher in Taiwan.

John Dewey International Education Consultants were of immense help in securing job interviews for my wife and me when we first arrived in Taipei.  We were hired by Polestar Educational Institute (Tucheng, Taipei County), the second school with which David had set us up with for an interview.  At no point in this interview/hiring process did the agency extract any fees or charges from us, and David continued to be a good support for us throughout the year.  I would highly recommend this agency to anyone wishing to teach English in Taiwan, especially newcomers who need help with interview leads and contacts.

We are two post-graduates from South Africa who came across this site via a search on the Internet. We requested at least 20 agencies to help us in our job search and our first reply was from David Huang. We didn't realize it then, but we had found ourselves the best agent. He
kept in touch with us throughout our search and made sure we found the most suitable job. He helped organize our visa, arranged translations over the phone and even came to meet us personally and booked us into a hotel. He had a list of interviews lined up and it was up to us to
choose the best one.

At the moment we are at an amazing school and have met lots of great foreigners and natives. All this is thanks to David, Andrew and their website ¡V and to make it sound even more unbelievable, they didn't charge us a penny! We highly recommend this site to all who are looking for a teaching job in Taiwan.

We received our jobs through this company. They did a lot of work for us, before we arrived in Taiwan. They sent us job postings while we were still in Canada so we could read about the different jobs that were available.

When we had found a job posting that suited what we were looking for in terms of employment, this company corresponded with the school for us. They were a great help, and we got the job at the school we wanted.

We could not have done this without their help! We are enjoying our school very much, and are most appreciative! Many thanks!

I chanced upon David's contact details when searching google sites for information about teaching English in Taiwan. I immediately thought to myself 'here's a guy willing to help me for nothing - there must be a catch', and we decided to wait until we arrived in Taiwan to contact him.

When we arrived and had trouble finding work, we got in touch with David and he couldn't have proved our previous sceptism more wrong. With no payment from us, he was genuinely concerned and motivated towards helping with all the common problems that foreigners face: finding work, where to live, what to visit and visa runs.

We both found great jobs in one of the schools that the company is affliated with and I would suggest to all who are thinking of coming over - going through De-Wey is a very good choice.

I have been settled here in Taiwan for nearing five months now. It is an amazing country so filled with differences and excitement. I am teaching here at a local High School and it is very easy hours with good returns. If you are considering coming to Taichung, I am writing to recommend that you get in contact with David. In our own circumstances, he has been a marvel at helping us to deal with all the difficulties you may encounter in trying to work here.

He fielded many questions prior to our arrival about visas, permits, openings at schools for teachers and so on. When we got here, he was there to meet us as arranged and was so helpful. With advise on everything, such as how to act in taiwanese interviews to where to get my watch fixed! Having secured us with a job at a time when there were not so many positions available, he has continued to help us at all turns.

To give some examples, to help you realize the extent he and his company will go to. We needed a certain amount of money in the bank during a visa run to Malaysia so as to be allowed to re enter, and David used his own money to help us have this amount in the bank. Then, when I called him recently to ask about how I go about getting a driving license here, he told me not to worry, he will find out for me and promptly did just that.

As I mentioned, Taiwan is a great place to stay and to work so as to make money yet it does have its difficulties in regards to working permits. If you are planning to come, I advise it and also highly recommend you contact David so as to help you with the situations that arise.

I would like to thank David at the John Dewey International Education Consultants company for all the professional help, advice and service he has given us.

I arrived in Taiwan with only a hope of finding work, and struggled for two weeks by myself with no luck whatsoever. It all changed when I called on David to help me out. Within a matter of days, I had found work, an apartment, and a scooter. I could not believe how quickly my life got organized after meeting with David.

With this in mind, I would definitely recommend John Dewey International Education Consultants to any traveler or teacher who plans to make Taiwan their home for a period of time in the future.

Best regards

Your professionalism and honesty are a credit to you and your company. I have dealt with many agencies during my twelve years here and you shine above all the others.

You worked with me to find a position that I desired rather than just ignoring my desires and sending on interviews that were doomed from the start. All to many agencies here try to fill their positions without regard to what the seeker has requested. There are many times where I've asked for an agency to find me a morning position and they keep asking to interview for evening positions. It's very frustrating, to say the least.

Another point I like to make is that once situated you never forgot about me and have made inquiries asking me how things were going. It's nice to know that if things were going badly you'd be there to assist me.

I was first contacted by Andrew Liu while I was in Australia looking for a teaching position in Taiwan. I placed my resume on an online teachers website and received an email from Andrew offering his assistance. When I arrived in Taiwan I telephoned Andrew and within a day he had arranged an interview for me at the school I'm now teaching at.

Andrew was able to answer all my questions and ensure I had all the information I needed before I signed the contract with my school. After joining the school Andrew would often email to make sure I was settling in okay.

I feel fortunate to have had Andrew's assistance in finding a school in Taiwan and I recommend him and his company to anyone who is considering teaching in Asia.

It has been my pleasure to work with a consultant with the De-way company to find an English teaching situation here in Taiwan.

Andrew gave his complete attention to my case and quickly identified a solid opportunity with the Joy Schools organization. He ably facilitated my communication with the local manager here in Dongshih, arranged the interview, and was actively involved in making my transition into full-time employment as smooth as possible.

I very much in debt to De-way for their professionalism and their personal touch. Thanks, Andrew! Thanks, De-way!

First I want to tell you a little story, When I got to Taiwan about two years ago, I found an agent in Taipei city, she got me some hours per day, for a reasonable fee per hour, however I was looking for more hours in order to even survive in Taiwan. Then on a certain day i went to a school to do a demo, I felt it was a disaster, I couldn't do anything right, but to my surprised the school informed me that they want me as a fulltime teacher. You can imagine that I was very happy to hear the news, finally I can get a decent apartment, and be able to go out and have some sort of a social life. So when i got my first salary, I did just that, I moved in with a friend into a very nice apartment. Unfortunately my good fortune didn't last very long, a few months later the school informed me that they have decided not to employ any foreign teachers in future for financial reasons. I was devastated, I really didn't know where to turn.

I decided to look through the newspapers to see if i could maybe find something, not thinking that i would. Now as you know as far as the reputation of agents go in Taiwan, it's not very good, so I was a bit weary about going through an agent again. I saw your company's ad in the newspaper, and decided to give it a try.

I phoned your company, and you asked me to send a short C.V., as well as a picture of myself. A few hours later you called me back, and informed me in detail about which positions you had available for me, and what it entails, I then went for an interview, and demo, which was successful. You then phoned me and told me that we will go to the school together to sign a contract. The next day we met at the school, and we had a meeting with the school director to sign the contract. You have assisted me through every step of the negotiations, and explained anything that i did not understand. I then signed the contract. and started working the next week.

Now usually this is where the agents disappear and you never hear of them again, but you were different, you kept in contact with me on weekly basis, either by e-mail, or phone. You would sometimes even come to the school to pay us a visit, I felt that You were really interested in my wellbeing, and my progress at the new school.

I might also mention that we are four foreign teachers at our school, of which three have been placed by your agency, and they all speak highly of your professionalism, honesty and integrity. Even the school speaks highly of you. I want to thank you in all sincerity for your help, support and friendship, through this past year, I know that if i ever need help or advice, I can just pick up the phone and speak to you, or any person at your agency.

I hope that I can continue my relationship with you, and you agency for as long as I am working in Taiwan. I will also recommend you to all my friends, that might want to come to Taiwan to teach English.

Thank you kindly,

by Pierre, SA

Andrew is really one of the few better agents in Taiwan. Apart form the fact that he does not take any money from the teacher's. (he gets his money from the schools). He puts in a lot of extra effort, to make you feel comfortable and make everything easier for you. Like letting you know which train or bus to take to your interviews. This is really a big help, because of the massive communication gap between foreigners and the Chinese people.

His English is also very good, which is a big help. You will not have to talk clingfish, for him to understand you. He also called and e-mailed me to hear how everything was going in my new job. He had no reason to do this, because everything was already finalized. It is just because he is a good person.

He even has a little bit of a sense of humor. something you will not find very often in Taiwan.

There is a lot of agents in Taiwan and I have heard a lot of stories about agents being crooks. Financial gain is number one on their list and not the well being of the foreigner. Andrew is definitely not one of these guys.

"Herewith a big THANK YOU to Andrew Liu of John Dewey International Education Consultants Ltd. for his assistance in finding a placement here in Taiwan as an English teacher.

I arrived in Taiwan on a Sunday and had work that very first Thursday. Andrew went as far as taking me to hospital for my medical check-up and saw that everything went smoothly.

He still keeps in contact four months later to see whether I have any problems or for a friendly chat. I would recommend him to anyone in need of a job."
