Kaohsiung Public Library (hereafter referred to as "the library"), originally named the Kaohsiung State Public Education Center . In April 1954, the new library building at No. 39 Minsheng 2nd Road was inaugurated, and officially named the Kaohsiung Public Library. The original library building had become out of space. Therefore, the government appropriated the original Public Activity Center building at No. 80 Minsheng 2nd Road for the purpose of building the new library. Hence, the library was moved to the new address in August 1981, and has operated there until now.
