Also, various outdoor activities such as swimming, horseback riding, cycling and hiking can be enjoyed in the largely unspoiled countryside.

The School

Earn your TEFL certification in Hungary's alluring capital city of Budapest. With an in-city population of approximately 1.7 million, Budapest is a modern yet historical city. TEFL Institute’s school in Budapest can assist participants in locating suitable living accommodations at very competitive prices. In all accommodations, participants will have their own private rooms with easy access to bathroom and other necessary living facilities.

Any special requests or requirements regarding accommodations can be specified on the course application form.

Please note that a € 100 refundable deposit is required for booking arrangements to cover against damage or breakage. It will be refunded to you at end of your course provided the apartment is in good condition.

Meals:
Meals are the responsibility of the participant except for those staying with a host family. Affordable meals may be purchased throughout Budapest. Hungarian cuisine is an integral part of the culture. Traditional goulash, a stew of beef and vegetables seasoned with paprika, is a common meal. Stews containing other meats are also quite popular. Fruit-flavored pastries called "rétes" are served for dessert. Foreigners are strongly urged to graciously accept any food offered by Hungarians; refusal is considered rude.

Participants should arrive at the Budapest Ferihegy International Airport in the XVII district of Budapest.

How can I contact the TEFL Institute (if I arrive before the start of the TEFL Budapest program)?

Participants arriving before the start date must arrange their own accommodations and contact someone at the TEFL Institute's office for further instructions. Contact information for the TEFL Institute’s school in Budapest will be provided to participants in their final placement details/pre-departure booklet.

Internet/Telephone/Medical Facilities
Budapest is the business center and capital of Hungary, offering numerous telecommunications and medical facilities/services. Phone and Internet services are also available in Internet cafés throughout the city.

Climate
Hungary has a continental climate. Winters are often cloudy and humid with temperatures as low as 20° Fahrenheit (-29° Celsius). Summers are warm to hot with temperatures reaching 110° F (42° C) on occasion. The average annual temperature is 49.5° F (9.7° C) while annual rainfall averages 24 inches (600 millimeters). Advice on what clothes you should bring can be obtained from the center.

The language schools also will ask you to teach a lesson to demonstrate your skills. Staff also is available throughout the course for consultation.

Expert training will prepare trainees for the practicalities of a TEFL interview. Trainees will learn what questions to expect and what questions to ask during a TEFL interview.
